There are times when we find elegance and strength in an orderly row of structures, such as the pillars and beams of buildings. We can find order in the assembly of forms and colors in things that we think are beautiful. These are called “elements of structural beauty,” and there are elements such as symmetry, repetition, rhythm, and balance.
We took those elements into account and created Vertical layer by densely putting together the vertical and horizontal boards that form a shelf. Inspired by a beautifully erect building, we set the shelf boards back to emphasize the perpendicular layers. When lining books on it, depending on the angle from which one looks at it, they appear and disappear, making this a shelf with a multitude of expressions.
